Benefits of Facial Oil

Benefits of Facial Oil

I was talking to a friend yesterday, we were talking about skin care and I was telling her my love for face oils. She was telling me that she really wanted to try one but was a little intimidated by the word oil. Totally understandable I hear that a lot. People with oily skin tend to cringe at the words face oil. People with skin that is already nourished enough don't think they need to add anymore hydration but face oil is not formulated for only people with dry skin. Face oil is formulated for all skin types. It does add hydration to your skin of course, but also it can boost your skins natural glow and protect against damaging free radicals. It's time to reconsider your opinion on face oils.

Now one thing to keep in mind is that there are many different kinds of face oils. To pick the one that is best for you, I recommend researching. Also, make sure you are using a FACE oil and not just any type of oil. I have used the Gloss Face Oil by Sainte Muse religiously for a long time now and I recommend it to everyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have combination skin to the max. It works well for both sides. Everybody that I have made try it, loves it and uses it religiously also. It is formulated for all skin types.

Lets get into some benefits.

Facial oil helps makeup go on more smoothly. The silky smooth feeling of facial oil makes it a great skin care product to apply before your liquid foundation, concealer or creme contour. If your skin is dry, flaky or has any blemishes it can be hard to apply makeup and get that flawless finish. Facial oil helps your makeup brushes or sponges glide across the skin to get that gorgeous finish and is less likely to streak.

Facial Oil seals in moisture and can add nourishment. Everybody can benefit from facial oil. People with dry skin will benefit most from the nourishment. If you are experiencing dry skin from the weather, or you always have dry skin, facial oils can help boost your moisturizer's hydrating efforts. When you apply a facial oil after a moisturizer it seals in all of the hydrating ingredients, making your skin more likely to hold onto the added hydration. Apply a few drops in the morning and at night after a moisturizer if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, consider only applying at night.

Facial Oil can protect from harmful pollutants. When you apply facial oil as the last step of your skin care routine in the morning, facial oil will act as a barrier on the outer layer of your skin as well as keep moisture in.

Facial Oil promotes a healthy glow. Your skin may appear dull and dry as you age, which is common because, your skin will produce less natural oil as you start to age. Your skin may also look dull if you are dehydrated or if you didn't get enough sleep. Dullness may also occur if you aren't exfoliating enough. No matter what causes the dullness of your skin, facial oil can help restore moisture and encourage glowing skin.

Don't let the idea of applying oil to your skin keep you from trying a facial oil and getting all of these amazing benefits. It is formulated for the face and all skin types so it can only be beneficial.

My Nighttime Skin Care Routine

My Nighttime Skin Care Routine

*Disclaimer* I change up my skin care routine with the seasons or if my skin is acting funny. This is my typical skin care routine for the summer nights.

I am a strong believer that washing your face at night is so important. If you didn't read my last blog post "Here's Why You Seriously Shouldn't Sleep With Makeup On", you should check it out. It pretty much explains why you definitely need to be washing your face before bed.

*Another quick disclaimer* this is what works for my skin, it may not work the same for yours.

Step 1. The first thing I always do is remove my makeup. I really like using a micellar water for this step. It takes the makeup off quick and easy. Sometimes I will use coconut oil instead on a cotton pad, either one works really well for me.

Step 2. The next thing I do is cleanse my face using my Créme Cleanser by Sainte Muse this is a gentle skin cleanser formulated for all skin types. It has a powerful blend of vitamins and antioxidants that leave my skin feeling so refreshed and smooth, and looking healthy and radiant.

Step 3. I will then tone my face. I have really acne-prone skin and my pores are huge so toner is a must for me.

Step 4. This is not something I do every single day but when my skin is feeling really dry I like to go in with my Gloss Face Oil from Sainte Muse. This just gives my skin the moisturized feeling it needs. It also helps any irritation I might have on my skin.

Step 5. I always moisturize with my Doux Moisturizer from Sainte Muse. I have combination skin to the extreme, so when my face is dry, it's really dry or when it's oily, it's really oily. This moisturizer is perfect for that because it gives me the moisture I need without adding any extra greasy-ness to my face.

Step 6. Although I don't do this everyday, this is my last step. 2-3 times a week I will use my 24K Gold Under Eye Mask from Sainte Muse. This is amazing for ridding your eyes of any wrinkles or dark circles, or even if you just need a little brightening. I like to put these on right before bed and sleep in them.

That is my night time skin care routine. My morning routine is similar but a little less complex. This routine really works great for me and I 100% recommend all of these products if your skin is anything like mine. It takes a little bit of experimenting but finding a skin care routine that works is important.

Xoxo, Taylor

7 Things you Should be Doing to Take Care of your Face!

7 Things you Should be Doing to Take Care of your Face!

If you’re looking for tips and tricks to make your skin healthier and appear better you are in the right spot. These are 7 things you should be doing to take care of your lovely skin.

1. Wash off your makeup.
Believe me when I say, I know how hard it can be to wash off your makeup at night. When you’re watching Netflix and you’re suddenly so tired you can hardly keep your eyes open but you still have your makeup on. You’re thinking to yourself, “what’s one night” GIRL, go wash that makeup off. I promise if you don’t, you’ll totally regret it. Makeup left on the skin overnight can clog pores, breed bacteria, and cause breakouts. Please, ladies, wash your makeup off your face at night!

2. Consider your diet.

I’m sure you’ve already heard about dairy causing acne, but that’s not the only food that can cause you to break out. Try your best to focus on nutritional meals. Your body will thank you and so will your skin. Stay away from processed carbs. Fruits and vegetables are the way to go!

3. Wear Sunscreen daily.
No matter the time of year, sunscreen protects against harmful rays that are always present no matter the season. UV rays are very harmful to the skin, they cause premature aging of the skin and can also cause skin cancer. Sunscreen is necessary for healthy skin.

4. Wash your makeup brushes.
Think about it, how often do you use your makeup brushes? Okay, now when was the last time you cleaned them? Makeup brushes collect, makeup, oil, dust, dead skin cells, and other debris. Every time you use them you are putting that on your face! Your dirty brushes can cause acne, skin irritation and infections.

5. Incorporate a vitamin C antioxidant serum into your skincare routine.
As a proactive measure to keep your skin’s elasticity and health, make sure you’re looking at the ingredients in your products. A vitamin C antioxidant serum is one of the most important anti-aging products available. Unlike some harsher anti-aging ingredients, antioxidant serums are generally tolerated by all skin types.

6. Face masks.
Face masks are incredibly important. With that being said, certain face masks work for certain skin types and don’t work at all for others. I like to use a face mask once a week, it not only leaves my skin feeling so refreshed but it is also super relaxing for me as well. The mask I have been loving lately, and totally recommend if you have combination skin like me, is the Active Noir Masque by Sainte Muse. I have found myself reaching for this mask each week when I decide it’s face mask time. It exfoliates and refreshes my skin, leaving it smooth and glowing.

 7. Getting enough sleep.
Make sure you are getting enough sleep. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason!!!! When you’re asleep your body has time to repair and regenerate. Not getting proper or enough sleep can contribute to inflammation which impacts the immediate and long-term appearance of the skin.

Cheers to healthy skin!!!

Top 10 Beauty Must-Haves for your Bag this Festival Season!

Top 10 Beauty Must-Haves for your Bag this Festival Season!

It’s that time of year again. Festival season is right around the corner. Whether it means massive events like Coachella, Sasquatch!, Bonnaroo, or something a little more low-key like the Telluride, Bluegrass festival, or even the Phish tour. As fun as festivals are, there are some things you definitely don’t want to forget to pack. Water, your ticket, cameras, and phones are essentials, but today we are going to talk about the beauty essentials you definitely don’t want to forget to throw in your bag.

1.) First things, first you always want to stay hydrated at festivals, not just you literally, but your face too. The moisturizer I’m always reaching for and can’t travel anywhere without is the Doux Moisturizer by Sainte Muse. It’s super light weight which is important to me on days where I’m going to be spending a lot of time outside in the hot sun. It is also keeps my face moisturized all day long, without adding any extra oil to my face.
2.) A tinted moisturizer will do you good at festivals, it’ll give your face a little coverage but it’s super light weight, because who wants a heavy face of makeup when you’re gonna be spending the day sweating your ass of at a music festival, ya idk. My favorite tinted moisturizer is the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer by NARS, but really any tinted moisturizer will do the trick.
3.) I don’t know about you guys, but I think this is a festival essential for sure, whatever you do, DO NOT FORGET A HIGHLIGHTER!!!! I know I love to be glowing and shining and I’m pretty sure you agree, so grab your favorite highlighter and toss it in your bag, (gently of course, you really don’t want to break it, that could end up messy..). If you don’t have a favorite highlighter I recommend going to your nearest makeup store and testing some out.
4.) You’ll want to bring a facial mist with you as well, a mist is nice to have because it’s not only refreshing but if you’re makeup starts to look dull it can pretty much bring it back to life. My favorite facial mist is the Luxe Rosé Facial Mist by Sainte Muse literally one of the best things that has ever entered my life. I love face mists, they are so refreshing but this one is a notch above the rest. It gives my face such a refreshed and clean feeling, but it never makes my skin oily and that’s so important.

5.)

This is another super important one, do not forget makeup wipes, I promise you will regret it. I get it, you’re at a music festival, you’re going to be exhausted, BUT It is not okay to sleep with your makeup on. Just grab a makeup wipe and get that makeup off your face. You will feel so much better in the morning and your skin will thank you. Even if it’s the middle of the day and your face just feels gross, grab a makeup wipe and wipe that shit off, you’ll feel better!
6.) Let’s be real, keeping your hair fleeky all damn day at a music festival isn’t an easy task. Always bring Sea Salt Spray. If your hair just isn’t cooperating or you just want some hot beach waves, spray a little sea salt in your hair and you’ll be looking like a million bucks.
7.) Dry Shampoo and music festivals really go hand in hand, showers are usually rare at music festivals so dry shampoo will be a life saver. If you’re hair is looking a little greasy or it just feels gross to you, spray some of that shit in there and you’re hair will look clean and smell clean and it’ll add a little volume to your hair.
8.) Nobody want’s to catch a wild sunburn at a music festival (talk about uncomfortable). Pack sunscreen. It doesn’t matter what kind or what SPF (although I recommend something with SPF 50 or more, to be extra cautious), just make sure you have some sort of sunscreen on at all times.
9.) Going right along with the highlighter, do not forget you body shimmer. Nothing looks better than gorgeous glowing skin. It’ll also totally match the aesthetic… Music Festival… Body Shimmer, they belong together.
10.) Last but not least, don’t forget your tanning oil. Although you don’t want to get sunburnt, getting a little tan wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I like to apply my Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse anytime I know I’m going to be in the sun for a long period of time. It helps me catch some rays and also keeps my skin looking shiny and smooth.

After you pack those 10 things you’ll be all set on the beauty essentials for your festival season. Have fun and always be safe. I hope your festival season is everything you hoped for and more!

See ya, Taylor.

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

What's up babes, my name is Taylor Marvin, I am a blogger and a new member of the Sainte Muse team. I wanted to do a sorta "get to know me" type post today but I wanted to still keep it beauty related. I decided that there is really no better way than an everyday makeup routine. I change my makeup routine up all the time. There are days when I beat my face to the gods and there are days when I literally wear no makeup whatsoever. It just depends on how I’m feeling. I will typically only wear heavy makeup when I’m going to some kind of event. I will only not wear makeup on days where I know I’m not doing anything at all. I have an in-between look that I would consider my everyday makeup look because, well, I wear it on most days.

If you want to find out how I achieve this look, keep reading...

First thing's first, I always start with a moisturizer. The moisturizer that I am using is the Doux Moisturizer by Sainte Muse. This moisturizer is a holy grail product for me, It keeps my face hydrated without leaving it an oily mess. I like to use a moisturizer under my foundation because I feel like it creates a barrier between my face and the foundation.

Then I'll go in with the primer that I am currently using, which is the POREfessional Primer by Benefit Cosmetics. This is a new product for me. It really does minimize my pores x10, but I haven't noticed any long lasting results in my makeup. I’ve vowed to use it a little longer and form a better opinion on it though.

I'll jump into my foundation next. The foundation that I am loving right now, is the CC+ Cream Illumination by IT Cosmetics. I really like this opposed to a foundation, It’s not heavy on my face, but the coverage is amazing. This is an illuminating product so it’s going to leave your face with a glowy look. I apply this with a damp beauty blender and I love the end result.

Then it's time to get rid of my intense dark circles. The concealer I’m currently using, and have been using for years now, is the Instant Age Rewind, Dark Circle Eraser by Maybelline. I apply the concealer under my eyes and on any imperfections I might have. This is the best concealer I have ever used in my life, I’ve tried other concealers but no matter what, I always come back to this one. I apply my concealer with a damp beauty blender as well.

Moving on to my eyebrows. For my eyebrows I have been using the Gimme Brow from Benefit. I was really hesitant to try this product, because every product I have ever seen, where you just apply the brows with a wand, turns out a mess. I tried it anyways, and I am so glad I did. It makes doing my eyebrows so incredibly easy and fast. I cut so much time off of my makeup routine just by buying this product.

I like to do some contouring next. I always use my Contour Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have been using this kit for a while now and I love it. I use the lightest color and the yellow toned color under my eyes, on my chin, the bridge of my nose, and in between my eyebrows. I’ll then move on to the darkest color in my kit and use this to bronze my cheeks, forehead, jawline, and nose.

After I contour, I’ll go in with some blush. My favorite blush is the Rose Powder Blush from Milani Cosmetics, the color I use is Bella Rose. I love the way this color looks with my skin tone. I use it every single day.

Now it's time to highlight and really get this face beat. I always find myself reaching for my Carli Bybel Palette by BH Cosmetics. I love the highlight color options that this palette has. I typically will use the second lightest color and I highlight my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and my cupids bow. I don’t do a super heavy highlight everyday, but I always like a subtle glow.

Now it's time for my favorite part, lips. I line my lips with the 20100 Matte Lip Crayon from Lord & Berry in the color 7804 Adorable. This is meant to be a lipstick but the color was really pretty as a lipliner for my all time favorite lipstick the Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick from Milani, in the color 61 Matte Naked. It’s not a super bold lip but it adds a little more to the face.

I then jump into my lashes, the first thing I do is curl my top lashes, I find that this definitely adds some volume to my lashes. The mascara that I am loving right now is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. It holds my lashes up all day, and the brush allows me complete control to make my lashes as voluminous as I want.

Now that I am done with my makeup, I will grab my Luxe Rosé Facial Mist by Sainte Muse. By this time in my makeup routine my foundation is dry, I like to use my facial mist to make my face a little bit damp and my makeup a little bit on the dewy side. I don't like my face to be incredibly matte. I prefer the glowy, dewey look.

Last, but not least, I set my face. I use the Prep + Prime Finishing Mist from MAC. I love this setting spray. It really helps my makeup last all day and keeps it looking fresh. I think using a setting spray is incredibly important if you want your makeup to look good all day long!

That’s all for now ladies. I hope you enjoyed this post. Make sure you check back every week for new posts. We upload twice a week! XOXO
