Benefits of Facial Oil

Benefits of Facial Oil

I was talking to a friend yesterday, we were talking about skin care and I was telling her my love for face oils. She was telling me that she really wanted to try one but was a little intimidated by the word oil. Totally understandable I hear that a lot. People with oily skin tend to cringe at the words face oil. People with skin that is already nourished enough don't think they need to add anymore hydration but face oil is not formulated for only people with dry skin. Face oil is formulated for all skin types. It does add hydration to your skin of course, but also it can boost your skins natural glow and protect against damaging free radicals. It's time to reconsider your opinion on face oils.

Now one thing to keep in mind is that there are many different kinds of face oils. To pick the one that is best for you, I recommend researching. Also, make sure you are using a FACE oil and not just any type of oil. I have used the Gloss Face Oil by Sainte Muse religiously for a long time now and I recommend it to everyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have combination skin to the max. It works well for both sides. Everybody that I have made try it, loves it and uses it religiously also. It is formulated for all skin types.

Lets get into some benefits.

Facial oil helps makeup go on more smoothly. The silky smooth feeling of facial oil makes it a great skin care product to apply before your liquid foundation, concealer or creme contour. If your skin is dry, flaky or has any blemishes it can be hard to apply makeup and get that flawless finish. Facial oil helps your makeup brushes or sponges glide across the skin to get that gorgeous finish and is less likely to streak.

Facial Oil seals in moisture and can add nourishment. Everybody can benefit from facial oil. People with dry skin will benefit most from the nourishment. If you are experiencing dry skin from the weather, or you always have dry skin, facial oils can help boost your moisturizer's hydrating efforts. When you apply a facial oil after a moisturizer it seals in all of the hydrating ingredients, making your skin more likely to hold onto the added hydration. Apply a few drops in the morning and at night after a moisturizer if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, consider only applying at night.

Facial Oil can protect from harmful pollutants. When you apply facial oil as the last step of your skin care routine in the morning, facial oil will act as a barrier on the outer layer of your skin as well as keep moisture in.

Facial Oil promotes a healthy glow. Your skin may appear dull and dry as you age, which is common because, your skin will produce less natural oil as you start to age. Your skin may also look dull if you are dehydrated or if you didn't get enough sleep. Dullness may also occur if you aren't exfoliating enough. No matter what causes the dullness of your skin, facial oil can help restore moisture and encourage glowing skin.

Don't let the idea of applying oil to your skin keep you from trying a facial oil and getting all of these amazing benefits. It is formulated for the face and all skin types so it can only be beneficial.

My Nighttime Skin Care Routine

My Nighttime Skin Care Routine

*Disclaimer* I change up my skin care routine with the seasons or if my skin is acting funny. This is my typical skin care routine for the summer nights.

I am a strong believer that washing your face at night is so important. If you didn't read my last blog post "Here's Why You Seriously Shouldn't Sleep With Makeup On", you should check it out. It pretty much explains why you definitely need to be washing your face before bed.

*Another quick disclaimer* this is what works for my skin, it may not work the same for yours.

Step 1. The first thing I always do is remove my makeup. I really like using a micellar water for this step. It takes the makeup off quick and easy. Sometimes I will use coconut oil instead on a cotton pad, either one works really well for me.

Step 2. The next thing I do is cleanse my face using my Créme Cleanser by Sainte Muse this is a gentle skin cleanser formulated for all skin types. It has a powerful blend of vitamins and antioxidants that leave my skin feeling so refreshed and smooth, and looking healthy and radiant.

Step 3. I will then tone my face. I have really acne-prone skin and my pores are huge so toner is a must for me.

Step 4. This is not something I do every single day but when my skin is feeling really dry I like to go in with my Gloss Face Oil from Sainte Muse. This just gives my skin the moisturized feeling it needs. It also helps any irritation I might have on my skin.

Step 5. I always moisturize with my Doux Moisturizer from Sainte Muse. I have combination skin to the extreme, so when my face is dry, it's really dry or when it's oily, it's really oily. This moisturizer is perfect for that because it gives me the moisture I need without adding any extra greasy-ness to my face.

Step 6. Although I don't do this everyday, this is my last step. 2-3 times a week I will use my 24K Gold Under Eye Mask from Sainte Muse. This is amazing for ridding your eyes of any wrinkles or dark circles, or even if you just need a little brightening. I like to put these on right before bed and sleep in them.

That is my night time skin care routine. My morning routine is similar but a little less complex. This routine really works great for me and I 100% recommend all of these products if your skin is anything like mine. It takes a little bit of experimenting but finding a skin care routine that works is important.

A "Do Not Forget" List for Beach Days

A

Alright babes, I put together a list of your beach must haves that you definitely won't want to forget for your days at the beach. You're Welcome (;

1. Towel or Sheet

This one is kind of obvious. No one wants to lay on the hot sand. A sheet is huge so you'll have plenty of room but a towel will do just fine. I suggest bringing a towel if you plan on taking a dip in the water.

2. Dark Tanning Oil

If you have fair skin or burn easily, for the love of God, do not forget sunscreen you will regret it and it's totally not worth the gnarly sunburn. For my ladies who tend not to burn I suggest wearing sunscreen but definitely make sure you bring your Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse, you will leave the beach with an effortless dark tan.

3.Water

Do not forget to bring water. This is bound to take a toll on your body that only water can restore. It is so important to stay hydrated when spending a day in the hot sun.

Pictured: Sainte Muse water bottle (in store only). Fader Magazine (July/Aug 2017). Sunnies are from Steve Madden. You can get the Sainte Muse Dark Tanning Oil and Luxe Rosé Facial Mist at saintemuse.com

4. Book or Magazine

I prefer to stay off my phone while I'm at the beach and although the view is nice and people watching is entertaining, I like to bring a good book or magazine to get into while I'm relaxing on the beach.

5. Luxe Rosé Facial Mist

Your skin is definitely not feeling it's best when you're sweating your a$$ off at the beach, so bring a facial mist like the Luxe Rosé Facial Mist to spray on your face when it feels gross or sweaty. It will leaves your face refreshed and feeling better than ever.

6. Sunnies

You'll most deff want a cute pair of sunnies to protect your eyes from the sun while you're laying on the beach looking fab, and to stunt in cute insta photos.

Those are the basics that I can't have an enjoyable beach day without. Of course you can personalize your bag to fit your needs but make you're not forgetting these 6 things and I promise you a beautiful successful beach day. Enjoy.

CAUTION -OVEREXFOLIATING-

CAUTION -OVEREXFOLIATING-

Wondering how often should you exfoliate your face? Over-exfoliation is one skin-care mistake almost all of us make. We incessantly scrub off dry, flaky patches of skin in an effort to take care of it — and when we accidentally exfoliate too often or with a scrub that’s too harsh, it backfires big time.

What happens if you exfoliate too much? Your skin gets irritated, then your dry, flaky patches return and often get worse. But gentle scrubs can remove flakes and make full, thirsty skin glow again. Overexfoliating is probably the single more significant cause of breakouts.

Here are five tips on how to keep your skin flake-free — without harming it.

1. More than Three Times a Week is Too Much Exfoliation

How often should you exfoliate your face? Well, the absolute maximum you should be exfoliating is three times a week. Overexfoliate and you’re likely to create tiny cracks in the skin barrier that lead to more loss of hydration and inflammation. By over exfoliating you’re not fixing the problem, you’re actually make it worse.

2. Be Gentle with Your Skin

Exfoliating does not mean torture your skin. Make sure you know what you’re putting on your face because a lot of face products are good on their own, but when you add them together it could lead to damage and injury.

3. Listen to Your Skin

Skin knows how to exfoliate itself and using just one exfoliater should be enough. Instead of having a set routine for how often you use a product, leave it up to your face. In other words, don’t exfoliate simply because it’s 7 a.m. — exfoliate because you feel like you need to.

4. Moisturize

Make sure you are keeping your skin moisturized along with exfoliating. You can't expect your skin not to be dry if you’re exfoliating but not moisturizing. It’s important to find a moisturizer that will keep your skin healthy and hydrated. You will find yourself having to exfoliate way less because your skin won’t be as dry. The Doux Moisturizer by Sainte Muse is a lightweight, oil free moisturizer. It will leave your face feeling hydrated and looking radiant without any added oil.

5. Exfoliating Masks

One thing that I find helpful is exfoliating masks rather than face cleansers. Just like exfoliating you should only be doing face masks a couple times a week, so something I like to do is find a face mask that doubles as an exfoliater, and I kill to birds with one stone. It helps me limit the amount of times a week I exfoliate and apply a face mask that way I’m being gentle on my skin and not overwhelming it with so many different products. The Active Noir Masque by Sainte Muse doubles as a exfoliating and cleansing mask. It is formulated for all skin types. It will leave your skin feeling refreshed and smooth without damaging or irritating your skin.

I hope this was helpful, make sure you’re being kind to your beautiful skin. Thank you babes for reading. * I have decided that next week I am going to be doing a skin care/ beauty Q&A. I will be posting on my social media so if you follow me there you can DM me but if you don’t you can email any questions you might have taylor@saintemuse.com and I will be answering them in a blog post so be on the lookout for that!

The Coffee Scrub

The Coffee Scrub

Today we’re going to take a look at the OG of this company, you guessed it, the coffee scrub. Sainte Muse has three different coffee scrubs which all benefit your skin in different ways. We have the Original Coffee Scrub, the Coconut Coffee Scrub, and the Cacao Coffee Scrub. Although they all benefit your skin in different ways and do different things to leave you with beautiful skin, we’re not going to be talking about any one of these individual scrubs at the moment, instead I’m going to tell you the benefits of Coffee Scrub for your skin.

One of my favorite things about these coffee scrubs is that the results are immediately noticeable It might take a few times to get your skin exactly where you want it, but each time it immediately looks better and better. The benefits of these scrubs include but are not limited to:

Exfoliation: because coffee scrubs are made with coarse grounds, they act as exfoliates for the skin. Regular exfoliation of the skin removes dirt and dead skin to give you younger looking skin. After the skin is exfoliated, it is able to absorb moisture more effectively as well.

Skin Texture: Caffeine is a vasodilator, which means it constrict blood vessels in the skin. This action works to make blood vessels tighter and firmer very quickly, which is reflected in your skin texture.

Antioxidants: The main chemical in coffee is caffeine, a natural antioxidant. Antioxidants neutralize the effects of free radicals, which can damage the inner layer of skin. This damage is often reflected in age spots and wrinkles. When a coffee scrub is applied, the skin absorbs this antioxidant and can help prevent premature aging.

Blood flow: Some people use coffee scrubs to combat the occurrence of varicose veins. The caffeine found in coffee scrubs typically increases blood flow and may reduces appearance of cellulite. Even the action of applying the coffee scrub can help with these types of skin issues because squeezing and massaging the body helps to release toxins and fats held in the skin.

Instead of using a body scrub with harsh chemicals and who knows what else, all Sainte Muse products are made with only the most high-end, natural, and ethical ingredients. Our coffee scrubs will leave your skin moisturized and nourished.

We have three amazing different coffee scrubs to choose from, they all work like magic. Below I am going to leave the description for each one and a link so you can decide which one is your absolute favorite and try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

“You don’t have to crack open a coconut to enjoy nature’s best moisturizer. Our Coconut Coffee Scrub contains all-natural coconut oil, which is bursting with anti-inflammatory properties. Open the bag, take out a scoop and start rubbing it all over your problem areas to target dry skin, breakouts, and other skin imperfections. Feel the grit as coffee granules stimulate blood flow and exfoliate, sloughing away dry skin while reducing the appearance of cellulite and scars. But this scrub doesn’t stop there. The all-natural coconut oil combined with a bit of sea salt provides an extra exfoliating kick, infusing your skin with moisture without blocking pores to unleash your inner beauty. Splurge on a tropical spa treatment, no travel required, and give your skin a nourishing boost”
“Wake up and smell the java every time you shower. Our Original Coffee Scrub 100% Arabica Coffee Beans. Open the bag, scoop out a handful and prepare to infuse your skin with a mega-dose of antioxidants and beauty-enhancing minerals. Rub vigorously in a circular motion and feel the high caffeine content stimulating blood flow while a healthy mix of rare sea salts eliminates stretch marks, cellulite and other unsightly skin conditions. Get ready for a healthy glow and problem-free skin that turns heads with just a few applications.”
“Wake up your skin with nature’s superfood, without any guilt. Our Cacao Coffee Scrub is made from earth-grown Arabica Coffee Beans and crumbled Cacao nibs, which the Mesoamericans called the “Food of the Gods” for its healing properties. Open the bag and inhale the chocolatey richness. Then scoop out a handful and rub it in a circular motion all over your problem areas. The gritty texture will slough away dead skin and minimize scars. The high levels of caffeine will stimulate blood flow. And since caffeine is cellulite’s natural enemy, your skin will start to look smoother and firmer with just a few applications. Smells like a Chocolate Mocha and helps you look your best. What’s not to love?"

I’ve tried them all, and trust hunny, this was a hard decision but the Coconut Scrub is my all time favorite. Coconut Oil and Coffee-- those are my two favorite things and now we’re mixing them? Mhm, count me in. In all seriousness, this scrub is amazing. I suffered from some acne scarring on my skin, I’ve tried a million different things to get the scarring to go away or at least slightly fade but nothing was helping. I read that this scrub was supposed to eliminate scarring, I was kinda like “ya, alright. We’ll see.” This scrub has eliminated all the scarring on my face completely. I saw a difference after the first use. I will forever love this scrub!

I hope this post has convinced you all to buy a coffee scrub, if not, you are genuinely missing out. You’re skin will thank you! Always Love yourself & Treat yourself ladies.

XOXO, Taylor

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

What's up babes, my name is Taylor Marvin, I am a blogger and a new member of the Sainte Muse team. I wanted to do a sorta "get to know me" type post today but I wanted to still keep it beauty related. I decided that there is really no better way than an everyday makeup routine. I change my makeup routine up all the time. There are days when I beat my face to the gods and there are days when I literally wear no makeup whatsoever. It just depends on how I’m feeling. I will typically only wear heavy makeup when I’m going to some kind of event. I will only not wear makeup on days where I know I’m not doing anything at all. I have an in-between look that I would consider my everyday makeup look because, well, I wear it on most days.

If you want to find out how I achieve this look, keep reading...

First thing's first, I always start with a moisturizer. The moisturizer that I am using is the Doux Moisturizer by Sainte Muse. This moisturizer is a holy grail product for me, It keeps my face hydrated without leaving it an oily mess. I like to use a moisturizer under my foundation because I feel like it creates a barrier between my face and the foundation.

Then I'll go in with the primer that I am currently using, which is the POREfessional Primer by Benefit Cosmetics. This is a new product for me. It really does minimize my pores x10, but I haven't noticed any long lasting results in my makeup. I’ve vowed to use it a little longer and form a better opinion on it though.

I'll jump into my foundation next. The foundation that I am loving right now, is the CC+ Cream Illumination by IT Cosmetics. I really like this opposed to a foundation, It’s not heavy on my face, but the coverage is amazing. This is an illuminating product so it’s going to leave your face with a glowy look. I apply this with a damp beauty blender and I love the end result.

Then it's time to get rid of my intense dark circles. The concealer I’m currently using, and have been using for years now, is the Instant Age Rewind, Dark Circle Eraser by Maybelline. I apply the concealer under my eyes and on any imperfections I might have. This is the best concealer I have ever used in my life, I’ve tried other concealers but no matter what, I always come back to this one. I apply my concealer with a damp beauty blender as well.

Moving on to my eyebrows. For my eyebrows I have been using the Gimme Brow from Benefit. I was really hesitant to try this product, because every product I have ever seen, where you just apply the brows with a wand, turns out a mess. I tried it anyways, and I am so glad I did. It makes doing my eyebrows so incredibly easy and fast. I cut so much time off of my makeup routine just by buying this product.

I like to do some contouring next. I always use my Contour Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have been using this kit for a while now and I love it. I use the lightest color and the yellow toned color under my eyes, on my chin, the bridge of my nose, and in between my eyebrows. I’ll then move on to the darkest color in my kit and use this to bronze my cheeks, forehead, jawline, and nose.

After I contour, I’ll go in with some blush. My favorite blush is the Rose Powder Blush from Milani Cosmetics, the color I use is Bella Rose. I love the way this color looks with my skin tone. I use it every single day.

Now it's time to highlight and really get this face beat. I always find myself reaching for my Carli Bybel Palette by BH Cosmetics. I love the highlight color options that this palette has. I typically will use the second lightest color and I highlight my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and my cupids bow. I don’t do a super heavy highlight everyday, but I always like a subtle glow.

Now it's time for my favorite part, lips. I line my lips with the 20100 Matte Lip Crayon from Lord & Berry in the color 7804 Adorable. This is meant to be a lipstick but the color was really pretty as a lipliner for my all time favorite lipstick the Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick from Milani, in the color 61 Matte Naked. It’s not a super bold lip but it adds a little more to the face.

I then jump into my lashes, the first thing I do is curl my top lashes, I find that this definitely adds some volume to my lashes. The mascara that I am loving right now is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. It holds my lashes up all day, and the brush allows me complete control to make my lashes as voluminous as I want.

Now that I am done with my makeup, I will grab my Luxe Rosé Facial Mist by Sainte Muse. By this time in my makeup routine my foundation is dry, I like to use my facial mist to make my face a little bit damp and my makeup a little bit on the dewy side. I don't like my face to be incredibly matte. I prefer the glowy, dewey look.

Last, but not least, I set my face. I use the Prep + Prime Finishing Mist from MAC. I love this setting spray. It really helps my makeup last all day and keeps it looking fresh. I think using a setting spray is incredibly important if you want your makeup to look good all day long!

That’s all for now ladies. I hope you enjoyed this post. Make sure you check back every week for new posts. We upload twice a week! XOXO

Tips & Tricks to Get the Perfect Tan This Summer!

Tips & Tricks to Get the Perfect Tan This Summer!

With summer right around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to give you guys some tips and tricks to get the best tan. If you’d rather tan in a tanning bed than lay in the sun, these tips and tricks will still work for you!

First things first, it’s important for you to choose the UV source which is suitable for your skin. In my opinion nothing can beat laying out in the sun, but we all have our own opinions and preferences. In case the weather or sky doesn't cooperate, or you would just rather tan in a tanning bed, It’s a good alternative to get a tan nonetheless.

One crucial step in prepping your skin for tanning is exfoliating. This is important because no matter what shade or skin kind you have, exfoliating will supply you with healthy looking skin. One of the major mistakes people make while tanning is they do not exfoliate. If you don’t exfoliate you’re just allowing dead skin cells to build up. You should exfoliate daily. When talking exfoliators I will always recommend the Sainte Muse Coconut Coffee Scrub Not only does the scrub exfoliate your skin, getting rid of any dead skin you might have, but it also saturates your skin with antioxidants and minerals while eliminating stretch marks, cellulite, and other skin conditions. It will leave your skin looking healthier and much more radiant. You should be exfoliating your whole body, including your face, the Saint Muse Coconut Coffee Scrub is safe to use on your face as well. Not only will you scrub away dead skin cells, but you will also prevent breakouts. If you skip the exfoliation process your tan could end up looking uneven, you will experience extra dirt, oil, and other problems around the skin.

You should always make sure you either wax or shave at least 24 hours before tanning. If you wax or shave right before you go tanning it could cause irritated skin, which could cause rashes or other issues with the skin. While some people may not react at all and some may have severe reactions, it is still necessary for you to wax or shave 24 hours before hand. Typically, the face and legs are the body parts familiar with sun exposure. Nevertheless, other body parts like the bikini area, are not used to this. Therefore, you should appropriately shave or wax at least one day before hand.

If you want to extend the life of your tan and have hydrated, perfect skin; you need to use proper moisturizers. Your skin tends to dry out faster when exposed to UV rays or extensive sunlight. You should be moisturizing on a regular basis. The most important time to moisturize is right before going to bed. As you go to sleep, the body will repair itself at a faster rate. By making use of the moisturizer before bed, you will be able to repair the damage happening during the day. It is also a good idea to moisturize after taking a shower because the water will dehydrate and dry out your skin. There are some areas around the body you need to be extra cautious you don’t miss like, your elbows, hands, knees and also ankles. Really any area of the body that moves is the area that needs to be focused on the most when applying moisturizer. Another incredibly important part of your body to make sure is properly moisturized, is the face. I do not recommend using a body lotion on your face. If you’re looking for a good face moisturizer I highly recommend the Sainte Muse Doux Moisturizer. It’s lightweight and oil free, which is important because oil could possibly lead to breakouts. It’s incredibly hydrating but it won’t add any extra oil or greasy-ness to your face. The more your moisturize, the better your skin will be and the longer your tan will last. It also helps prevent dead skin cell buildups.

Tanning oils will also help you build and keep a tan. Tanning oils work by attracting and focusing the UV rays of the sun onto the skin. The properties of tanning oils accelerate the process by intensifying the rays. As the UV rays penetrate the skin, they accelerate the melanocytes’ ability to produce melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives your skin color. The greater the presence of melanin in the skin, the darker your skin will appear. My  Ride or Die tanning oil is Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse. each bottle is filled with organic, vegan friendly ingredients that will have your skin dark and glowing. It has an SPF of 4, which will keep you safe from 75% of the sun’s harmful rays. I've never had a tanning oil get my skin so dark, and I've also noticed that my tan seems to last longer.

Keep in mind that you always need to be hydrated to get the best tanning results. Drink plenty of water, it will keep the skin hydrated. Water with the help of moisturizer will help in prolonging the life of your tan and allow you to keep the golden glow for a long time. Staying hydrated is one of the most crucial tips you need to follow.

Undress for success, wear the bathing suit you are most likely to wear when you’re swimming or going to beach and that is going to leave the least amount of tan lines. That way you have a smooth tan that flows from skin to bathing suit. However, if you’re tanning in a tanning bed, you have the option to skip the bathing suit and instead of trying to minimize the tan lines, you have no tan lines at all.
