Benefits of Facial Oil

Benefits of Facial Oil

I was talking to a friend yesterday, we were talking about skin care and I was telling her my love for face oils. She was telling me that she really wanted to try one but was a little intimidated by the word oil. Totally understandable I hear that a lot. People with oily skin tend to cringe at the words face oil. People with skin that is already nourished enough don't think they need to add anymore hydration but face oil is not formulated for only people with dry skin. Face oil is formulated for all skin types. It does add hydration to your skin of course, but also it can boost your skins natural glow and protect against damaging free radicals. It's time to reconsider your opinion on face oils.

Now one thing to keep in mind is that there are many different kinds of face oils. To pick the one that is best for you, I recommend researching. Also, make sure you are using a FACE oil and not just any type of oil. I have used the Gloss Face Oil by Sainte Muse religiously for a long time now and I recommend it to everyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have combination skin to the max. It works well for both sides. Everybody that I have made try it, loves it and uses it religiously also. It is formulated for all skin types.

Lets get into some benefits.

Facial oil helps makeup go on more smoothly. The silky smooth feeling of facial oil makes it a great skin care product to apply before your liquid foundation, concealer or creme contour. If your skin is dry, flaky or has any blemishes it can be hard to apply makeup and get that flawless finish. Facial oil helps your makeup brushes or sponges glide across the skin to get that gorgeous finish and is less likely to streak.

Facial Oil seals in moisture and can add nourishment. Everybody can benefit from facial oil. People with dry skin will benefit most from the nourishment. If you are experiencing dry skin from the weather, or you always have dry skin, facial oils can help boost your moisturizer's hydrating efforts. When you apply a facial oil after a moisturizer it seals in all of the hydrating ingredients, making your skin more likely to hold onto the added hydration. Apply a few drops in the morning and at night after a moisturizer if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, consider only applying at night.

Facial Oil can protect from harmful pollutants. When you apply facial oil as the last step of your skin care routine in the morning, facial oil will act as a barrier on the outer layer of your skin as well as keep moisture in.

Facial Oil promotes a healthy glow. Your skin may appear dull and dry as you age, which is common because, your skin will produce less natural oil as you start to age. Your skin may also look dull if you are dehydrated or if you didn't get enough sleep. Dullness may also occur if you aren't exfoliating enough. No matter what causes the dullness of your skin, facial oil can help restore moisture and encourage glowing skin.

Don't let the idea of applying oil to your skin keep you from trying a facial oil and getting all of these amazing benefits. It is formulated for the face and all skin types so it can only be beneficial.

A "Do Not Forget" List for Beach Days

A

Alright babes, I put together a list of your beach must haves that you definitely won't want to forget for your days at the beach. You're Welcome (;

1. Towel or Sheet

This one is kind of obvious. No one wants to lay on the hot sand. A sheet is huge so you'll have plenty of room but a towel will do just fine. I suggest bringing a towel if you plan on taking a dip in the water.

2. Dark Tanning Oil

If you have fair skin or burn easily, for the love of God, do not forget sunscreen you will regret it and it's totally not worth the gnarly sunburn. For my ladies who tend not to burn I suggest wearing sunscreen but definitely make sure you bring your Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse, you will leave the beach with an effortless dark tan.

3.Water

Do not forget to bring water. This is bound to take a toll on your body that only water can restore. It is so important to stay hydrated when spending a day in the hot sun.

Pictured: Sainte Muse water bottle (in store only). Fader Magazine (July/Aug 2017). Sunnies are from Steve Madden. You can get the Sainte Muse Dark Tanning Oil and Luxe Rosé Facial Mist at saintemuse.com

4. Book or Magazine

I prefer to stay off my phone while I'm at the beach and although the view is nice and people watching is entertaining, I like to bring a good book or magazine to get into while I'm relaxing on the beach.

5. Luxe Rosé Facial Mist

Your skin is definitely not feeling it's best when you're sweating your a$$ off at the beach, so bring a facial mist like the Luxe Rosé Facial Mist to spray on your face when it feels gross or sweaty. It will leaves your face refreshed and feeling better than ever.

6. Sunnies

You'll most deff want a cute pair of sunnies to protect your eyes from the sun while you're laying on the beach looking fab, and to stunt in cute insta photos.

Those are the basics that I can't have an enjoyable beach day without. Of course you can personalize your bag to fit your needs but make you're not forgetting these 6 things and I promise you a beautiful successful beach day. Enjoy.

5 WAYS TO GET BEACH WAVES!

Beach waves are a summer essential. They look incredible on short hair or long, thin or thick, straight or curly. Also, it really doesn't take much effort and there’s so many ways to achieve beach waves. Count me in.

Below are 5 different ways to get the best looking beach waves!

1.) Braid before you sleep: This is the lazy girl’s ways to get beach waves, so me. After you shower, towel dry your hair. Separate your hair into 2-6 sections, so that you end up with 2-6 braids depending on how big you want your waves to be. Braid the sections. Go to sleep looking like some kind of alien and wake up with beautiful beach waves. Run your fingers through it and spritz with a sea salt spray for some more texture.

2.) Wand it: Another way I curl my hair is with a curling wand. It gives you that beach wave look without too much time or effort. The size of barrel just depends on how big you want
your waves to be. Before you begin curling, spritz your hair with a heat protector, your hair will thank you. Then take one
inch pieces of hair. wrap around barrel (leave the bottom 2 inches out) and keep it there until your hair is warm to touch. Reminder, be incredibly careful not to burn yourself. Once you’re done curling, let your hair cool, then run your fingers through your waves for a more natural look, then spritz with hairspray.

3.) Scrunch it: If your hair is naturally wavy, you can get beach waves in like 2 minutes. Literally just spritz some sea
salt spray, to towel-dried hair and scrunch it. Let it air dry and you’ll have that perfect beach wave look.

4.) Straightener: A flat iron, can have many uses. You can not only use it to obviously straighten your hair, but also curl it! Take one inch sections of straight hair, clamp a few inches

below the root, slowly move the iron down and rotate in a halfway turn. While rotating seamlessly move the iron down your hair.

5.) Curling Iron: Before doing anything involving a hot tool, make sure to spray hair with hair protectant. Follow that up by brushing through to get rid of any tangles. Using a wide-barrel iron, take on inch sections of your hair, open the clamp, twist & curl, and move it down your hair, leaving out the bottom two inches. For beachy, messier waves, you should alternate between curling your hair towards and away from your face.

With five different waves to get that perfect beach wave look, I’d say you’re just about ready to hit the beach. Just don’t forget your Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse so you can get a perfect tan to match your perfect hair. (;

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

My Everyday Makeup Routine!

What's up babes, my name is Taylor Marvin, I am a blogger and a new member of the Sainte Muse team. I wanted to do a sorta "get to know me" type post today but I wanted to still keep it beauty related. I decided that there is really no better way than an everyday makeup routine. I change my makeup routine up all the time. There are days when I beat my face to the gods and there are days when I literally wear no makeup whatsoever. It just depends on how I’m feeling. I will typically only wear heavy makeup when I’m going to some kind of event. I will only not wear makeup on days where I know I’m not doing anything at all. I have an in-between look that I would consider my everyday makeup look because, well, I wear it on most days.

If you want to find out how I achieve this look, keep reading...

First thing's first, I always start with a moisturizer. The moisturizer that I am using is the Doux Moisturizer by Sainte Muse. This moisturizer is a holy grail product for me, It keeps my face hydrated without leaving it an oily mess. I like to use a moisturizer under my foundation because I feel like it creates a barrier between my face and the foundation.

Then I'll go in with the primer that I am currently using, which is the POREfessional Primer by Benefit Cosmetics. This is a new product for me. It really does minimize my pores x10, but I haven't noticed any long lasting results in my makeup. I’ve vowed to use it a little longer and form a better opinion on it though.

I'll jump into my foundation next. The foundation that I am loving right now, is the CC+ Cream Illumination by IT Cosmetics. I really like this opposed to a foundation, It’s not heavy on my face, but the coverage is amazing. This is an illuminating product so it’s going to leave your face with a glowy look. I apply this with a damp beauty blender and I love the end result.

Then it's time to get rid of my intense dark circles. The concealer I’m currently using, and have been using for years now, is the Instant Age Rewind, Dark Circle Eraser by Maybelline. I apply the concealer under my eyes and on any imperfections I might have. This is the best concealer I have ever used in my life, I’ve tried other concealers but no matter what, I always come back to this one. I apply my concealer with a damp beauty blender as well.

Moving on to my eyebrows. For my eyebrows I have been using the Gimme Brow from Benefit. I was really hesitant to try this product, because every product I have ever seen, where you just apply the brows with a wand, turns out a mess. I tried it anyways, and I am so glad I did. It makes doing my eyebrows so incredibly easy and fast. I cut so much time off of my makeup routine just by buying this product.

I like to do some contouring next. I always use my Contour Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have been using this kit for a while now and I love it. I use the lightest color and the yellow toned color under my eyes, on my chin, the bridge of my nose, and in between my eyebrows. I’ll then move on to the darkest color in my kit and use this to bronze my cheeks, forehead, jawline, and nose.

After I contour, I’ll go in with some blush. My favorite blush is the Rose Powder Blush from Milani Cosmetics, the color I use is Bella Rose. I love the way this color looks with my skin tone. I use it every single day.

Now it's time to highlight and really get this face beat. I always find myself reaching for my Carli Bybel Palette by BH Cosmetics. I love the highlight color options that this palette has. I typically will use the second lightest color and I highlight my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and my cupids bow. I don’t do a super heavy highlight everyday, but I always like a subtle glow.

Now it's time for my favorite part, lips. I line my lips with the 20100 Matte Lip Crayon from Lord & Berry in the color 7804 Adorable. This is meant to be a lipstick but the color was really pretty as a lipliner for my all time favorite lipstick the Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick from Milani, in the color 61 Matte Naked. It’s not a super bold lip but it adds a little more to the face.

I then jump into my lashes, the first thing I do is curl my top lashes, I find that this definitely adds some volume to my lashes. The mascara that I am loving right now is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. It holds my lashes up all day, and the brush allows me complete control to make my lashes as voluminous as I want.

Now that I am done with my makeup, I will grab my Luxe Rosé Facial Mist by Sainte Muse. By this time in my makeup routine my foundation is dry, I like to use my facial mist to make my face a little bit damp and my makeup a little bit on the dewy side. I don't like my face to be incredibly matte. I prefer the glowy, dewey look.

Last, but not least, I set my face. I use the Prep + Prime Finishing Mist from MAC. I love this setting spray. It really helps my makeup last all day and keeps it looking fresh. I think using a setting spray is incredibly important if you want your makeup to look good all day long!

That’s all for now ladies. I hope you enjoyed this post. Make sure you check back every week for new posts. We upload twice a week! XOXO

Tips & Tricks to Get the Perfect Tan This Summer!

Tips & Tricks to Get the Perfect Tan This Summer!

With summer right around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to give you guys some tips and tricks to get the best tan. If you’d rather tan in a tanning bed than lay in the sun, these tips and tricks will still work for you!

First things first, it’s important for you to choose the UV source which is suitable for your skin. In my opinion nothing can beat laying out in the sun, but we all have our own opinions and preferences. In case the weather or sky doesn't cooperate, or you would just rather tan in a tanning bed, It’s a good alternative to get a tan nonetheless.

One crucial step in prepping your skin for tanning is exfoliating. This is important because no matter what shade or skin kind you have, exfoliating will supply you with healthy looking skin. One of the major mistakes people make while tanning is they do not exfoliate. If you don’t exfoliate you’re just allowing dead skin cells to build up. You should exfoliate daily. When talking exfoliators I will always recommend the Sainte Muse Coconut Coffee Scrub Not only does the scrub exfoliate your skin, getting rid of any dead skin you might have, but it also saturates your skin with antioxidants and minerals while eliminating stretch marks, cellulite, and other skin conditions. It will leave your skin looking healthier and much more radiant. You should be exfoliating your whole body, including your face, the Saint Muse Coconut Coffee Scrub is safe to use on your face as well. Not only will you scrub away dead skin cells, but you will also prevent breakouts. If you skip the exfoliation process your tan could end up looking uneven, you will experience extra dirt, oil, and other problems around the skin.

You should always make sure you either wax or shave at least 24 hours before tanning. If you wax or shave right before you go tanning it could cause irritated skin, which could cause rashes or other issues with the skin. While some people may not react at all and some may have severe reactions, it is still necessary for you to wax or shave 24 hours before hand. Typically, the face and legs are the body parts familiar with sun exposure. Nevertheless, other body parts like the bikini area, are not used to this. Therefore, you should appropriately shave or wax at least one day before hand.

If you want to extend the life of your tan and have hydrated, perfect skin; you need to use proper moisturizers. Your skin tends to dry out faster when exposed to UV rays or extensive sunlight. You should be moisturizing on a regular basis. The most important time to moisturize is right before going to bed. As you go to sleep, the body will repair itself at a faster rate. By making use of the moisturizer before bed, you will be able to repair the damage happening during the day. It is also a good idea to moisturize after taking a shower because the water will dehydrate and dry out your skin. There are some areas around the body you need to be extra cautious you don’t miss like, your elbows, hands, knees and also ankles. Really any area of the body that moves is the area that needs to be focused on the most when applying moisturizer. Another incredibly important part of your body to make sure is properly moisturized, is the face. I do not recommend using a body lotion on your face. If you’re looking for a good face moisturizer I highly recommend the Sainte Muse Doux Moisturizer. It’s lightweight and oil free, which is important because oil could possibly lead to breakouts. It’s incredibly hydrating but it won’t add any extra oil or greasy-ness to your face. The more your moisturize, the better your skin will be and the longer your tan will last. It also helps prevent dead skin cell buildups.

Tanning oils will also help you build and keep a tan. Tanning oils work by attracting and focusing the UV rays of the sun onto the skin. The properties of tanning oils accelerate the process by intensifying the rays. As the UV rays penetrate the skin, they accelerate the melanocytes’ ability to produce melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives your skin color. The greater the presence of melanin in the skin, the darker your skin will appear. My  Ride or Die tanning oil is Dark Tanning Oil by Sainte Muse. each bottle is filled with organic, vegan friendly ingredients that will have your skin dark and glowing. It has an SPF of 4, which will keep you safe from 75% of the sun’s harmful rays. I've never had a tanning oil get my skin so dark, and I've also noticed that my tan seems to last longer.

Keep in mind that you always need to be hydrated to get the best tanning results. Drink plenty of water, it will keep the skin hydrated. Water with the help of moisturizer will help in prolonging the life of your tan and allow you to keep the golden glow for a long time. Staying hydrated is one of the most crucial tips you need to follow.

Undress for success, wear the bathing suit you are most likely to wear when you’re swimming or going to beach and that is going to leave the least amount of tan lines. That way you have a smooth tan that flows from skin to bathing suit. However, if you’re tanning in a tanning bed, you have the option to skip the bathing suit and instead of trying to minimize the tan lines, you have no tan lines at all.
